Kleine Heimat
The Kleine Heimat (German for “little home”) is a single vineyard Silvaner from one of our satellite vineyards next to the village of Rödelsee. Unlike the rest of our vineyards the bedrock soil is Keuper. The grapes get destemmed and crushed before they macerate and slowly start fermenting. Pressed after a good week fermentation continues in a big oak barrel. That’s where the wine also ages until being racked to a tank before the next harvest where it stays before it gets bottled about 18 months after being picked.
Noticeable but soft tannins, a juicy acidity, pears and herbs – a complex but easy to access orange wine that can age for a long time and got perceived well from Eric Asimov to Kourtney Kardashian.
